Nest Boundary Discontinuity in WRF Precipitation Output

Hi all!

I am relatively new to the WRF and the WRF forums, so apologies if I make any errors in post formatting.
I am making this post in reference to a boundary discontinuity I am noticing in my WRF precipitation output. I am running a triple nested simulation, and I will attach my namelist for clarity/debugging purposes. The discontinuity is NOT reproduced in other output fields, I notice it only in RAINC. I will attach outputs of RAINC at the final timestep for both d1 and d2 to show the discontinuity. Any ideas on what I might be missing are more than welcome!

Thank You!

This is a common feature in nested WRF simulation. Precipitation shows a grid-dependent structure. Usually when we run nested simulations, we only look at results in the finest domain.

I notice that you turn on cumulus scheme for all the 3 domains. I would suggest that you turn it off for the 4km and 1.33km domain. This is because convection can be resolved at such resolutions.

I see, that makes sense - thank you! I will also turn off the cu scheme for 4 and 1.33 km domains, hopefully this can bring my simulation closer to verification as well. Again, thank you for the feedback and suggestions!
